Or am I missing something? As I see it, web sites were the first distributed, scalable, highly customizable platform on the internet. Email and stuff like IRC and FTP were huge, but they aren’t really platforms upon which more complex systems were built like the Web is.

Answer by DrDave Of course not. Cloud is the next step in taking control of what users do. You’ll be charged for every thing. You will no longer have your own personal software. You’ll pay to use applications every time you use them. Big Brother is just around the corner.

How much does youtube have to pay each month on everything: stuff, hosting…..and What about the profit?

I picked youtube because I want to know how big is the budget of such sites and precisely youtube because theoretically it spends more money on hosting then the other because it is a video hosting site. If there is any site which has more expenses than youtube other than google than answer the same questions about that site and forget about youtube.

The infrastructure segment of cloud computing or Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) is a provision model whereby a company outsource the equipment used to support operations. This includes servers, hardware, storage, hardware, and networking components. The service provider houses, runs, and maintains all of the operations and the customers pay on a per-usage basis. Features of the IaaS include: dynamic scalability, utility computing service, automation of administrative tasks, desktop virtualization, and internet connectivity. Question by Peaches: How much does it cost to host a Joomla/Drupal site in Amazon AWS?
I want to host a Joomla (or Drupal, haven´t yet decided) based website in the cloud. How much would it cost to do it with Amazon AWS or another cloud computing platform? I am very new to cloud computing, but I consider myself an advanced PC user, and I could, say, work a little harder in implementing the cloud on independent hosting sites in South America, where I´m based, I see there is the need for some queue. I’m pretty much padawan at this. My TLD is a .org. I very much unnapreciate RoR so heroku not an option.

Indeed, new developments in mainframe automation and other technologies increasingly support the use of mainframes for delivering cloud computing?and help resolve recession-era computing challenges around cost, power, energy use, and reliability. So is the mainframe the ultimate cloud platform?
Cloud as a concept is, in its most basic sense, virtualising resources within the data centre to gain scale of efficiency and optimisation. Independent research commissioned by CA Technologies found that 79 percent of European IT organisations believe the mainframe is an essential component of their cloud computing strategy. Moreover, 74 percent believe that the mainframe will have a role in any cloud computing initiative. Reciprocal to the mainframe’s strategic role in the cloud, 70 percent of respondents agreed that cloud computing will sustain or extend the mainframe environment.
The mainframe can also be used to achieve a cloud strategy at dramatically lower costs. Well-managed mainframes have up to a 96 percent advantage in terms of energy usage and are the gold-standard in terms of reliability, scalability, and virtualisation. This is no ‘flash in the pan’, short-term opportunity either. Mainframes are here to stay. The survey indicates that 82 percent of respondents reported that they intend to use the mainframe in the future either as much or more than today. Why is the mainframe considered such a valuable organisational asset? 55 percent of respondents cite its reliability, 52 percent stated it’s because of the mainframe’s position as an established technology, and 48 percent lauded the platform’s cost-effectiveness.
Let’s not get carried away though. Walk into any mainframe shop and you’ll be confronted by two overwhelming concerns: the people who work with mainframes tend to be the same ones who worked on them 30 years ago, and the technology they use to manage the platform hasn’t been updated to the more intuitive interfaces. Indeed, the study found that 44 percent of IT organisations are grappling with staffing issues created by the ‘greying’ workforce and difficulty in hiring new staff. Clearly, if the mainframe is to be the ultimate cloud platform, things have to change.
