Report: Google is thinking about buying Twitter


Twitter has a had a few years of slow growth, but with some recent successes under its belt, it looks like there are a few bidders for an acquisition. A report by CNBC indicates that Google and Salesforce are among the top suitors looking to buy Twitter. Other ‘top tech companies’ are also looking into the purchase. Google is a particularly interesting suitor that has been rumored before; buying Twitter would give it a strong foothold to take on Facebook after the relative failure of Google+. Report: Google to unveil smaller, linkable Wi-Fi router at Pixel event


Google’s OnHub router was met with decent reception (heh), but a new report by Android Police indicates the company is looking to announce a new router alongside its upcoming probably-called-Pixel phones on October 4. It will simply be called Google Wi-Fi. The router will almost certainly include some of the OnhHub’s ‘smart’ features for simplifying connections and optimizing reception (although whether the OnHub really performed any better than similarly prices routers is questionable). Man Claims Uber Laughed at Him When He Tried to Report Sexual Assault 

A New York man says he was laughed at by an operator at Uber’s emergency hotline after reporting that he was sexually assaulted by an Uber driver this month. The operator later hung up after refusing to refer the man to her manager. The driver has since been banned from the platform.

Amazon might be getting a little worried.

Pricing details for Google’s upcoming smart speaker, the Amazon Echo-like Google Home, may have just been leaked and they suggest that Google’s speaker will be a lot cheaper than Amazon’s.

The speaker will sell for $ 129 when it goes on sale later this year, according to a report in Android Police. Google Home, which the company first introduced at its I/O developer conference in May, is a speaker that also has Google Assistant built in. (You can preview the assistant in the company’s new messaging app, Allo.) It can also control smart home devices, complete searches and help you manage tasks like managing your grocery list. Report: BMW X3 diesel emissions exceed EU regulations, company stock falls

The reverberation of the Volkswagen tailpipe emissions scandal is still being felt across the industry, pulling other brands under the harsh light of scrutiny.

According to a report out from Germany’s Auto Bild, the Nitrous Oxide (NOx) tailpipe emissions of BMW’s X3 diesel compact crossover exceed European regulations. In fact, the car’s respiratory-harming NOx emissions exceeded future Euro 6 emissions levels — set to go into effect in 2017 — by as much as 11 times.

The report is based upon tests performed in October, 2014, by the International Council on Clean Transport (ICCT), the independent nonprofit focused on clean energy that originally discovered VW’s emissions cheating. Read more…
